Advice North Somerset
Web Design Project Description
Who are Advice North Somerset?
Advice North Somerset is a two-year project, funded by the ‘Big Lottery Advice Services Transition Fund’, to set up an advice partnership in North Somerset to develop the advice services in the challenging climate of cuts to Legal Aid and changes brought in by Welfare Reform.
The partnership is led by North Somerset Citizens Advice Bureau, with Age UK Somerset, Alliance Homes and North Somerset BME Network.
Agency Requirements for Advice North Somerset
An agency that would advise and support their website around the clock. We are currently helping Advice North Somerset with the following:
- Dedicated server hosting with Rackspace
- Website build and development
- Online digital marketing and on-site optimisation
- Social media
- Email newsletters
- Graphic design
The brief was simple, Burfield were required to demonstrate why they should win the work and what would make them the right fit for this project. The brief centered around bringing people from North Somerset into the site to help with their everyday issues like housing, employment and debt through to family. This wasn’t an advice site but provided a gateway to find the places to get the answers required. As well as the site looking clean and welcoming, it needed to push the user in the right direction to help them find information quickly and easily.
Jon was the architect for this one as UX and design were paramount to the success of this project. We used WordPress to cover the basics like levels of account management throughout the network. As always we spent time making sure WordPress admin was as easy to use as possible and made sure that users had the right tools available to them. Using WordPress meant we were able to spend less time developing and were able to allocate more budget on the UX and call to actions making sure we hit our goal of converting people.
