Bath-based web design agency Burfield Creative has moved to new, larger premises – in the very building where Director James Burfield’s wife Caroline runs her own organisation, Carewatch Bath.
The two local entrepreneurs had both already found success in their respective professions when they first met in 2007. But after getting married in 2009, they decided to join forces in business as well, with each becoming hands-on directors and co-owners of the two companies they had started separately.
Burfield Creative’s move was prompted by the growth of the agency, which despite the recession has continued to attract many new web marketing clients throughout the South West. The company’s new premises are in one of Midsomer Norton’s most historic buildings, opposite the Town Hall on High Street. They feature larger offices and a dedicated meeting room – which the company shares with Carewatch Bath.
“We had outgrown our previous offices at Holly Court,” says James. “The new premises give us much better facilities for our clients and room for further expansion. Our new meeting room in particular gives our customers a more comfortable and welcoming environment in which to discuss their projects.”
Caroline Burfield adds: “Being in the same building as James makes running the businesses much easier. Before, we were constantly making trips to each other’s offices. We help each other out a lot – James does a lot of marketing for Carewatch Bath, and I look after all the admin and accounts for Burfield Creative. Everything’s a lot more efficient now, and more fun as well.”
With the two businesses running more smoothly than ever, their merge of premises has also brought the possibility of further success – as well as potential for boosting the local economy with new jobs.
“We now have firm plans to open up a number of new online stores this year, including a fancy dress shop and a motocross clothing store,” says James. “That will mean taking on new staff in a number of roles, and will hopefully represent the birth of even more successful new businesses based in Bath.”
